Timothy Powell - President

Tim Powell's core expertise is knowledge strategy, weaving together his professional experience in competitive intelligence, knowledge services, business strategy, information technology, market research, data analytics and forecasting, and social psychology. His articles, books, and blog Competing in the Knowledge Economy blend these disciplines in addressing a range of management issues.
Prior to founding TKA, Tim held senior positions at FIND/SVP (now ORC International), PricewaterhouseCoopers, and KPMG. Much of his work has been with large, complex organizations — among them Abbott Laboratories, Altria, American Express, CIT, General Electric, Highmark BCBS, McGraw-Hill, Petrobras, Revlon, Sony, the State of New York, Travelers, the US Navy, John Wiley, and Xerox.
Tim has served on the boards of several start-ups in health care and technology.  Child health and welfare is a major interest, and he served that field in several non-profit capacities prior to his business career.
Tim is the developer of the Knowledge Value Chain®, a methodology for assessing and improving the ROI and value of enterprise knowledge and intelligence. He is past chair of the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows (CCIF).
Tim enjoys sharing what he knows.  He meets often with business and professional groups, and serves on the faculty of Columbia University's innovative Information and Knowledge Strategy master's program. He developed and taught a graduate course Enterprise Intelligence for LIU's Palmer School of Library and Information Science.
BA Yale College and MBA Yale School of Management.
